Yu-​Heng Lin | 林宇恆

I'm a Ph.D. student supervised by Dr. Leticia Avilés at the University of British Columbia. I am interested in behavioral ecology and biogeography. My research mainly focuses on the ecological causes and consequences of sociality.

January 2020

Passed MSc oral defense!

After years of diligent research, I passed my oral defense and finished my MSc thesis about global cooperatively breeding avian species. Thanks to every instructor and advisor.

Paper published as the first author!!!

Our work about the range size and social behavior in starlings and hornbills has published in The American Naturalist. Many thanks to co-authors complete it together and help me improve the skill of analyzing and programing.

Poster presentation of

BRCAS Summer Internship Program

Sharing my preliminary result with all the attendees, which is the first step to make it complete!

2017, 2018, 2019 summer and 2018,2019 winter

Fieldwork in Sichuan, China

and Amami island, Japan

Designed and conducted behavioral experiments in burying beetles. Including manipulation of carcasses quality, density survey, and high-resolution video record in China, Taiwan, and Japan.

Graduated from National Taiwan University.

I graduated from my undergraduate study, and started brand new chapter of my research career!

When I was an undergraduate student, I conducted one of the experiments by analyzing the chemical composition of rotten rat carcasses.
